Old merge discussion

[edit]

I wonder if this article should be merged with the Streets of St. Petersburg article as they both seem to display and have much the same information, history, and facts and becasue the circuit is temporary the information will be pretty much the same in the 2 articles.Sawblade05 21:59, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sounds like a good idea. The Wiki-NASCAR setup has set a precidence for track/race. One page for the track, a seperate page for the individual race(s). The setup I and others have established for IRL in Wiki has been very similar. One page for the track (if not already taken care of) and a seperate page for the race. But a temporary street race is a whole different situation. There is no other events or any other use for the circuit.

The event itself is what matters. I say that it be merged into Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Both the track and race info box can be placed on the page, along with text, combined into sections, then the race results.

Same thing should go for the Belle Isle race that (unofficially...wink, wink) is going to be on the 2007 IRL schedule. Have one page with all of the information regarding the Belle Isle Circuit and the past race results.

If there are no objections, I'll go ahead and merge the two St. Pete articles shortly. Doctorindy 17:42, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Streets of St. Petersburg This page seems to be a stub. I wish it had more info into the history and facts about the circuit and event. Sawblade05 21:19, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also notice that both this article and the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg article seems to carry much the same info therefore I wonder if these 2 pages should be merged. Sawblade05 21:40, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Times change

[edit]

The above discussion no longer holds true. We now have no just a IRL race, but an ALMS race. I think both of them and the track deserve their own page. Also, the ChampCar race should get a page too. Will (Talk - contribs) 10:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note on when the two previous layouts were used

[edit]

I found a page describing the various previous layout. It claimed that they were used during different years than the article lists. When I added maps of those layouts, I went with the information from that page. Will (Talk - contribs) 08:30, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

denoting Dan Wheldon Way

[edit]

I hope Will is still watching this. I was wondering if we could make a minor tweak to the course map to denote Dan Wheldon Way (the straight between turns 11 and 12). --Kitch (Talk : Contrib) 15:29, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
